Sismay Granados, 18, has recently been awarded multiple honors and featured in multiple exhibitions for her breathtaking artwork. Coming from El Salvador and transferring to Central Islip High School, her creative writing and art abilities showcase the school district’s talent and diversity.
Officially considered one of Long Island’s best, her art is now reaching greater audiences and gathering appreciation all around Long Island. The recognition of her immense talent has earned her the honor of having her art showcased at Flowerfield Atelier Art Show and the Heckscher Museum of Art. In addition, her art will be placed on display and available for purchase at Mitchells; an upscale boutique in Huntington Village. Her art teacher and mentor, Mrs. Nicole Castelli, commented, “Having her work recognized in a competitive setting is a testament to her dedication and artistic vision. The art show will not only provide a wonderful opportunity for Granados to shine, but also highlight the incredible talent we have here at Central Islip High School.”
As a requirement for AP Drawing and Painting , students must choose and investigate a theme. Granados’ work was centered around the experience of an individual experiencing Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Granados showcases an individual talent to express a story through her art. Within her piece, titled Black Wolf, she uses graphite and black ink to take us through all the stages of manipulation, grief, and selfishness. You can see this outstanding artwork displayed at Mitchell’s from May 29-June 22. If you would like to own this original by Sismay Granados, it is currently valued at $800.
The concept of art being a pathway is conveyed through one of Granados’ favorite quotes by Salvador Dalí, “Painting is writing with light.” Her recent accolades suggest that the future certainly is bright for Sismay Granados.
