There is a great opportunity available for college-bound students! On Tuesday, January 7, from 6-8pm in the High School library, work with Financial Aid Professionals from Suffolk County Community College to complete your Financial Aid Package for the 25-26 school year. Remember to bring your tax forms from last year- you will need them to complete the paperwork.
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It’s a form that students fill out when they want to apply for financial help to pay for college. The form asks for information about your family’s income and financial situation to determine how much money you are eligible to receive to help you pay for college.
Here’s how it works:
- Apply online: You go to the FAFSA website, create an account, and fill out the form with details about your finances.
- Financial aid options: Based on your answers, FAFSA figures out how much financial aid you might be eligible for, like grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans.
- Free: It’s free to apply, and filling it out doesn’t mean you have to accept any aid. It just helps you see what you might qualify for.
- Important deadlines: You need to submit it before the deadline for your state or school, which is why it’s good to start early.
Think of FAFSA as your first step in finding out how you can get money for college!
