Have you ever dreamed of stepping into the spotlight? Have you never dreamed of doing something so out of your comfort zone but feel like now is the time to try new things? This year’s CIHS production of Shrek: The Musical is the perfect opportunity for you, regardless of what motivated you to audition. Still on the fence? Here are some reasons why you should consider auditioning:

It’s fun!

Shrek: The Musical has the same vibe as the movie. If you love all the jokes, silly characters, and fun songs, you will love the musical. This will be a great opportunity to just be silly on stage and not take yourself too seriously.

You don’t need to have experience!

You do not have to be a seasoned actor or a super-star singer in order to audition. There are parts for everyone and everyone is there to help each other learn and grow. If you have never been on stage before but think it might be something you would enjoy, this is a safe, welcoming place to start.

You can make new friends!

Being a part of the musical is a great way to meet new people. The cast and crew spend so much time creating the production that they become like a family. The memories will last a lifetime and so can the friendships!

You can build confidence!

Performing in front of an audience can seem scary now, but once the production is ready for showtime, you will be more than prepared. The butterflies in your stomach will be from excitement, not fear! Once you experience being on stage in front of an entire audience, you will feel like anything is possible.

So what do you do now? Come to the High School auditorium on December 17 and 18 after school. Come prepared to sing up to one minute of whatever song you choose. Remember, you don’t have to be a super-star– you just have to give it a try!
