Are you interested receiving community service hours? Well, here at Central Islip high School there are many opportunities for you to obtain these community service hours. We have clubs that students can join that plan events. Club members can volunteer to help set up and organize these events providing everyone a wonderful experience with our various programs and activities.
A few examples of these events are our food drives, working the concession stand during Varsity Football games, Mother’s Day sales, raffles, and working at the informational tables that you might see outside the cafeteria. The most recent event at the high school was Safe Halloween.
What is the Safe Halloween event?
Safe Halloween is a yearly event that we host here in this very school where CIHS staff and students get together to give the kids in the community a fun experience. Mr. Cottrell, the Student Council advisor that organized the event described the event: “This is a positive event for all the students and the children here because it gives us all a chance to connect with one another. The students were really excited to work with us this year and they all did a great job with the decorations. Overall, they really wanted to make this work.”
This event is not only great for the participants, but also for the community. Parents can relax knowing that their kids are trick or treating in a safe environment. This event is an important part of our school year because it gives everyone a reason to be excited and celebrate. Seeing the little kids running around makes you miss and remember all of the fun times while also creating experiences that will make this time worth looking back on in the future.
